hey there,

i have just recently built this system -

E6300
ASUS P5B-E
SATA II HDD
CORSAIR XMS2 ddr2 pc6400 2X512MB

however it is slower on the XP bootup gui than my old system -

P4
Some MSI motherboard (emachines)
1gb ddr2 533 ram

I know that the gui isnt the best place to mark things on but my system takes about 9 runs off the bar whilst the old one only takes 3! Is there anything i can do to speed up my system?

My system is however faster at logging on but not initial boot process.

Any ideas?

thanks,

Hi,
Are you using the onboard soundmax sound card. If so, your slow boot problem probably ( if the P5B-E is like the P5B deluxe) is to do with the soundmax drivers. The way to check if it is because of the soundmax drivers, is to disable the onboard sound in the bios and then check the boot up times with onboard sound disabled.
Are you using the latest soundmax drivers?

right i disabled the sound and it went down to about 6 bars but still not very good - and anyway i need the sound.

Any more ideas?

about the same into safe mode, a couple of seconds faster. I dont have much at all loading at startup - just graphics card drivers (latest) - sound and security software. Exactly the same as the other PC, apart from that has onboard graphics.

Any more ideas?
