Slower upstream when using router?

I've got a Buffalo WHR-54s router connected to my NTL cable modem and I've been experiencing horrible upload speeds. Upstream is about 100Kbps. When I disconnect the router and connect directly to the cable modem, my upstream jumps to about 190Kbps. My download speeds don't seem to be affected.

My router is using DD-WRT firmware and I have turned off QoS. Does anyone know why my router is reducing my upload speeds?

After experimenting further, it seems that the upload speed is reduced when the pc is connected to the router wirelessly. When I use a network cable, the speed is fine.

I seem to get excellent signal strength so I am wondering what the problem could be? My upload is poor even if my laptop is right next to the router. Maybe time to try some new drivers.

Thx, my MTU was already set to 1500. There was actually a problem with the Wireless network adapter on my laptop and a driver update solved the problem. My upload speed is where is should be now :)
