SLR Camera for beginner (Fast moving pictures)

Greetings my Camera aficionados

I was wondering if you could assist, a friend of mine is looking into a beginner range of a SLR camera and lens. He will be using it for "fast" shots of drifting cars on a track as well as the standard family photos.

He is looking to spend around £400 and was wondering if there is any advice for models and and lenses.

Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Ann entry level DSLR with something like a 70-300mm lens would be OK for what he wants to do

Second hand Canon 40D with a Sigma 70-300 would give you change from £400.
