I know you can run modern LCD's in lower resolutions to increase the Hz, but how would i go about setting this up?

Lets say i want to run windows in my native res of 2048x1152, but wanted to play my games in 1280x720 to get 75hz. How do i got about doing this?

Well you change the resolution and the refresh rate in the game.

Now you're going to tell me that the game doesn't allow you to change your refresh rate... right? If that's the case then you probably need to change resolution/refresh rate before starting the game.

Your graphics drivers should allow you to force games to use the same settings as your desktop. If you have an ATI card you could set up profile shortcuts on your desktop to toggle between the resolutions.

I thought Hz doesnt make any difference on LCD screens. I cant tell the difference between 60 and 75 whereas on a CRT it was obvious when you increased. Even from 100hz to 120hz >
