Small black border around display - GPU problem?

Hi everyone, got a pre-built system from Overclockers yesterday (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-215-OE&groupid=43&catid=2040&subcat=) everything is awesome so far except one small thing that is doing my head in trying to fix

My display constantly has a very small black border around it, it seems for some reason Windows isn't using the full screen size. The graphics card is a Sapphire Radeon HD7770 which I've got the latest drivers for. After doing some research on Google it seems everyone else who has had this problem has gone on Catalyst Control Centre and reduced the overscan option to 0%. However mine is already on 0%, and I'm still left with this small black border :(

It's definitely not the monitor as it's doing the same thing when I connect it to my TV (albeit with a slightly bigger border because of the screen size) and I've tried using both HDMI and DVI with the same results. Has anyone got any idea what might be causing this? It's driving me nuts and spoiling my enjoyment of what is otherwise a great system.

I'd add a screenshot but it seems when taking one it just shows the full windows screen and doesn't include the black border. Nothing is ever easy is it!

How big is the border?

The part of the LCD screen you see often doesn't fit perfectly edge to edge in the frame and there'll be a thin border which is part of the LCD panel but not used to display the image.

If you still have the border using DVI, and with the output set to the native resolution of the monitor, then I'd say it's just part of the panel as you won't get scaling problems with DVI.

The border is just a couple of mm thick - quite small, but definitely noticeable. I have tried connecting the PC to my TV as well and got the same border (it's even more noticeable on the bigger screen) so I don't think it's a problem with the monitor.

I'm sitting here looking at 2 LCD monitors and there's a mm or 2 black edge around the LCD screen.

The image doesn't fit edge to edge.

It's just how they're made.

Thanks for that :( Never noticed this till I looked at this thread and now I can't take my eyes off it lol.

Thanks a lot for your help Surveyor, you're absolutely right. Just hooked my PS3 up to the monitor and the slight border is there, and it turns out it is on my TV as well, I've just never noticed it before. No doubt I'll soon forget it's there, thanks again for your help as I now have some much needed peace of mind :D
