spec as follows :
Phenom II X4 B55 @ 3.8GHz Tri-Core
890FX Deluxe3
12GB Team Elite 1333MHz
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2
CF 2xHD6850
Coolmaster HAF 912 Plus
700w Modular PSU
Logitech Z313
Gigabyte M6900
LG E2240S
Windows 7 64bit HP

now i have a budget of around £90. the only thing that springs to mind is an SSD, but im limited to a certain supplier, so can only get a Kingston V100 64GB, the specs dont look all that great.
the other thing is an X4 955 BE chip. but as im still debating whether to save for a SB setup or wait for BD to come out, i dont know if the money would be better spent. maybe an AM3+ Mobo? but if i dont go down the BD road, then thats a waste also.
any suggestions? or should i just save it towards a big upgrade?

Why cant you buy the Crucial M4 64GB SSD thats on special offer? you get free delivery too.

No debit/credit card?

Apart from a SSD I cant see anything worth upgrading.

Can't imagine your system is struggling on anything to badly, in which case I say save for the upgrade.

SSD would be nice yes but best to get a good one and in another couple months the next gen ones will come out and down go prices again.

the 955be is a gd chip but its barely fit to pick up a SB cores trash! :P and to be honest the step up from what you have wouldnt be worth the cash.

Your lucky in that you dont have the money to buy a SB setup now so you dont have to think whether to wait and see what BD brings to the table. Save your money and wait for when things get a little bit more competitive in the pricing (e.g when BD comes out)

since my i want from my i7 920 to this setup i have always had in my head i want to go for BD, mainly because i can do a rolling upgrade with AMD which i couldnt with intel as they change their sockets every 2 minutes. but, i have read that ivy bridge will have some 1155 chips, so would also be able to do a rolling upgrade IF i jumped ship and went SB.
i have read that BD is due out in august, which isnt that far away (i know its already been delayed once), so like you say, that might drive down the prices of SB, or AMD might wow everyone and launch it very cheap to catch up on the lost market.

Well you are right to dismiss Kingston, they are the suck.

Does this work credit expire?

nope, i pay it off each week, so in theory, every week it goes up ;)

so i have £90 left on my max credit limit. every week i pay something off, i get further away from the max, so in theory i have more to spend. well in principle anyways.

Let it increase then. I really am struggling to suggest anything apart from a SSD ( but you really want a good one) to make what you have better.

Blu-ray drive?

hopefully im selling a pc i got free tomorrow for £60, so that will go in the budget too. £300 is my ideal for a SB upgrade, BD is due out in august, so thats another 6-8 weeks. so in theory by the time BD comes out, i should have £170-£200 credit, and if i save, which i probably wont, the £60 from the pc sale, then should be very close for a SB or BD build (depending on AMDs pricing).

well, first game i played (well second but peggle dont count) was BF:BC2, and well, screen tearing was awfull. it looked stunning and played really well @1920x1080 set to high, apart from the screen tearing :( so is this a signal something isnt good enough?

turn vertical synchronisation (vsync) on. that will sort your screen tearing issues out. it did for me
