What payroll software do you use ?

I have 1 employee and have been using HMRC Basics, but that doesn't integrate in anyway with automatic enrolment.

Would be a bonus if it could automatically upload pension data to my pension scheme as well.

Sage One - online payroll, very simple to use, costs £5 + vat / month to use (can get half price offer for first few months if you look around)

http://uk.sageone.com/

It integrates with NEST afaik, not sure what other pension schemes it does automatically, but it will output your pension data in a csv file

I have used Quickbooks Payroll as well, and as much as I love their accounts software, the payroll was awful, so I moved to Sage One

Clearbooks is decent. Your accountant can usually get discounts.

very small and basic business, accounts are done by myself in excel.
I do have a friend who is an accountant who comes over once a year just to check over my figures before i upload them to HMRC :)

Sage with the pension module for Nest. All a doddle to do every week. Takes about an 1/2 hour all in to do 16 people complete with print outs, nest upload and online tax submission.

I don't like the way they are moving all of their software to monthly payments (we use sage accounts too) but its the way everyone is going now so little choice.

How small is small? A lot of my clients see the benefit of using an accounting software like Clearbooks/QBO/Xero (albeit the latter is very expensive for the same features) with turnover of around £20k and up because it allows them to easily track invoices and reconcile to their bank account (it imports every night).
