Currently have a Corsair 650D and after getting a new desk its just too big to fit alongside my dual monitor setup.

I've been thinking of going to a smaller factor for a while as it's easier to port about for going to lans etc.

Looking for recommendations for a new mobo and case to house the following,

i7 4790K
Corsair H80i
GTX 970 (272mm long)
16GB RAM (4x4)
3x SSD
2x 3.5" HDD (may only need 1x 3.5" if I swap to a 3/4TB drive)

Any recommendations would be great ;)

I have similar components in an elite 130. Very good case and not too expensive either. Supports full size atx power supplies and you can fit a 295x2 in there so plenty of room for a 970 (I have the galax infinity black in mine)

just noticed you have 4x4 ram modules, if you go ITX then you would be hard pressed to find an itx board that supports 4 dimms! perhaps sell em on and get the 16gb deals that OcUK are doing for £ridiculous cheap right now!

Whats it like temp wise?

Yeah thought about doing this if I go down the route of itx might go mATX

4x4 might be a problem with smaller cases as the mobos usually only have 2 slots, but if you want to go tiny than I would suggest ncase m1

Sorry should have said need support for ATX PSU looks like you loose the 2x 3.5" bay if you use a full size PSU in this case :(

Pretty good, I have a 4790k @ 4.6 running at 27 Idle and no more than 40 while gaming, pushed it to 70 in benching. That's on the silent profile using updated noctua 3000rpm ipcc fans in push pull. 970 never went above 65 in benching and 60 in game

And you have a H80i or similar in also?

Is mounting it easy enough or at least a comfortable size to work with?

Yeah sorry forgot to mention. H80i in there :)
It's easy enough to work with, provided it's done in the right order! The h80i will only go in one way if you have a gpu and the 5.25inch Bay can get a bit restrictive (I drilled mine out in the end and Bottom mount the 3.5 inch drive!) but it's easy enough to work in.

Got any pictures?

Sounds like it will do the job nicely :D

Yeah I made a thread here somewhere with it. Pics in there are a little old but can always take some more if you want! Ignore the pics on the first page (although you can see the wrong way to mount the h80i there) and look at the second page. Other than flipping a fan around it's pretty much there...

Cheers,

Trying to decide if to go with itx or matx now, don't know if I want to swap my ram over :(
