small help for ps3 1080i/p

well i think i have this monitor/tv http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...een LCD Monitor with Digital TV Tuner - Black

and for some reason in ps3 settings it says resoliutons 1080i 1080p / 720 are wrong and playing at standart pal 516 or something gta 4 looks horrible and i cant even read a message in a phone as its so blurry what im doing wrong why i cant set resolution higher?

How is it connected?

That monitor will only support up to 1080i, but 720p is the best choice.

its connected with av cable * 3 yokes in tv * but i can connect to the av cable to the square thing and then connect it well i try it tomorrow

red/white/yellow? That'll be composite video - the worst sort of connection, and limited to standard 576i resolution.

'Square Thing" i think you mean the Scart adapter, that won't make any difference - that's just for routing in the composite+audio via a Scart socket.

To get HD resolutions you must use Component, HDMI, VGA.....

Right, as stated above, the cables you are using are Standard Definition cables, infact they are probably the WORST cables you could use for picture quality.

You have two alternatives with that television:

1: Buy a HDMI cable, and then set your PS3 to 720p

2: Buy a component cable, and then set your PS3 to 720p

Out of the two connectors, HDMI is superior however component will still be vastly better than the connection you are using now.

Also, don't spend more than £10 for a HDMI cable, there are really expensive ones but they aren't worth it.

never truer words spoken, the gadget show on channel 5 did a test on a £20 and a £120 hdmi cable and couldnt tell the difference in pic quality,i got mine £12 from a big supermarket chain with 4 green letters and it works a treat

well my monitor/ ts is LG m228WA not the one i posted above older model i guess and it does not have hdmi connector but it supports it so would it be alright hdmi to dvi cable ?

Yep if the monitor supports HDCP, using a HDMI to DVI cable wont be a problem.

lololo retard playstation connected all the cables hdmi to dvi was changing resolution and resolution did change but ps3 would not let me apply it and said resolution wrong even if resolution changed now i have to buy component av cables.

sony is retarded why they just not include them in the box

What resolution were you trying to set it to out of curiosity? as i said that monitor won't support 1080p, are you sure the monitor is HDCP compatible?
