I am interested in the raspberry pi and looking to make a media centre pc with it, ideally I would like to hook up some sort of dvb-s2 card for all the freesat channels as well, however the more I look the more I realise there are alternatives.
Has anyone tried any of the alternatives like cubox or hummingboard if so are they any better than rpi and worth buying? Read one review saying the pi couldn't power a usb dvb so it had to run through a powered hub, where as alternatives didn't need this.
Also having never setup Linux or anything like this before can people recommend a list of things to get me up and running?
