Small MX-5 mods

Yep, all the supporting bits and bobs for about £700... So very tempting!

My next step is to get the car running on some sort of ECU other than the stock item, either an AEM FIC or a standalone MegaSquirt from Reverent. Once that is in place and working nicely I will start amassing parts for the supercharger itself :)

Be interesting to know what it is like when it is supercharged, looking at doing mine next year with the TRLane stuff and a mini supercharger, if insurance allows...

Just out of curiosity, how much did you pay for the charger?

Prices have been creeping up ever since this conversion has got more popular! Should've picked one up when they were going for £100 :/

I have done this to my Mk1, its a very slippery slope and WILL turn out to cost you more money than you expected!!

I have a mini supercharger with:
RX-8 injectors
dual throttle bodies
front mounted intercooler
Megasquirt 1 V3
LC-1 wideband o2 sensor
SPEC stage 2 plus clutch
yellowstuff pads all round
TRlane roll bar
underbody braces
MX5 parts stainless exhaust

It is absolutely amazing though, well worth it if you do it all yourself like I did, otherwise it will cost you a fortune (odds and ends, tuning, clutch etc) otherwise you might aswell buy an Elise tbh

Did you sell the old seats?

Nope, still got them. Never got around to selling them, they are just sat in the garage.

£200 delivered, which is about the going rate now :/ You can get them cheaper but you do get what you pay for...

I know, I've done a lot of reading about this before deciding to actually do it :)

I was quoted ~£2k to go this route and end up ~200bhp, which I thinks quite reasonable for someone else doing the work.

Sadly there's an opportunity arisen to move back into my old house and if that happens, I'll not be affording such shenanigans. Probably best for the safety of the masses mind you!

Tim Lane probably, I've heard that they do this service but don't seem to shout about it.

but drz only bought an mx5 because his s2000 budget wasn't big enough, so i'm guessing he had an OK s2000 insurance quote.

will your mx5 plus s/c plus tuning plus other mods still come under 7k?

edit: actually it will easily won't it, the mx5 was only 2k or something?
