Hi guys,

I would like to overclock my CPU, but as some people I'm slightly paranoid of ruining my components.

I have an Phenom2 x6 1055t (2.8Ghz), if I invest in a decent cooler, will a small overclock to 3Ghz affect the life time significantly of my CPU?

Cheers...

No. No overclock will unless the temps are getting very high or you're putting more volts than recommended in.

You can clock that to 4.0GHz and if you have a decent cooler (like an Akasa Venom or Titan Fenrir etc) then you won't affect lifetime in the slightest.

Really? I was always lead to believe any increase in voltage will reduce the lifetime.

Nah, just the standard purple one mate:

stick within these values and all will be good

See my sig.

Change cpu clock to 250MHz, standard multiplier 14x, vcore to 1.275 or 1.325V

Instant 3.5GHz (after new cooler).
