Small PC or Laptop?

Hi everyone!

I'm looking at building myself a gaming computer, nothing too much - my limit is £750.

I've been able to find myself good parts roughly what you see below for £650.

AMD FX8350
asRock 990FX Mobo
250gb hdd
gtx 660ti
vengeance 2x4gb
zaman z11 midi tower
lg cd burner
corsair 600w psu

I would love to have mobility, meaning a laptop with these specs but to get something even close would be minimum £1000. I know that I can go get a custom build done but with a gtx 660m and i7 and 8gb we are looking at the same price, but gtx660m is nothing on the 660ti.

Any input would be great, even a whole new setup :) thanks. No more than £650 for a built PC and no more that £750 for a laptop.

Thank you

If mobility is indeed a part of the equation I'd get a laptop mate. I sold my desktop and invested in a laptop. You get less for your money in terms of bang for buck, but it's so so easy to just shut the lid, unplug the peripherals and be on the way to your mates house to have a spontaneous LAN :p

I know I think I want more value though.. :(

Can anyone tell me the difference between:

XFX Radeon HD 7000 Series FX-795A-TDFC video card

and

AMD RADEON HD 7950 OEM - 3 GB GDDR5 - PCI-EXPRESS 3.0 (AMD-HD7950-3G)

Legendary reply, it helps enormously. I haven't built anything since my Phantom build: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=1001246 which I'm selling back in Australia to buy a new rig here. :)

I will 100% show you the end result. Thank you.

We are always happy to help fella, we'd love to see a build log and we can help you through as you go.......seems you aren't shy at buildings rigs as it goes.

You have to stop linking to competitors though fella, it's against forum rules. If you get suspended we can't help you ;)

I had no idea - I'm just trying to find out more information on different cards - in the end I am ordering parts from OCUK :)

It's a common "noob" mistake. Just edit the links out or replace them with the products webpage or a review page, before the mods see. Stulid popped in linking some websites which do great reviews :)

Oh before I forget you didn't list the 3570K......that K is very important as it's the multiplier unlocked version with a better IGP. Even if you arent overly fussed with overclocking it will help the resale value and the IGP is used by quicksync to help with video encoding if the software supports it. Pity you just missed the i5K on offer :(

That's just my first prodigy spec minus the optical drive and a HDD that is "worse". Just use the B grade 1TB HDD I used, double the capacity more cache and it's cheaper ;)
