I'm after some advice and suggestions for a small/mini PC that can fit under my lounge TV. It will mainly be used for gaming but playing media would be a bonus but not essential.
Obviously the more powerful the better for graphics intensive use, the budget isnt high at £400 (maybe £500 at a stretch) but would it be possible?

HDMI out would be ideal as i can then feed it through my HD amp (Denon).

I'm not clued up on latest hardware specs as i've had laptops for the past 5 years although built my own PC's before that so can build/install OS's no problem.

Thanks for any help/advice.

if you dont use the optical bay it wont be so bad i think, somewhere to stuff the cables
i personally wuldnt bother with the 500gb tho^^

lol yeh its where i skimped, idea is can upgrade the cpu later, rather than skimping on lots of parts

Thanks all.

Was looking at that Coolermaster case but it would be borderline on fitment, my space is ~207mm high which is the same as the case!

Instead i've found a Qubz mini-itx gamer case (Google it) which would fit and takes full size PSU and GFX cards.

Thinking of a SSD (smallish capacity) as i dont need mega file storage (use my NAS via Gigabit LAN). I've come to the question of i3 + 7770.
Is the 7850 way faster than the 7770?
Would i be better going for the older 6870 2nd hand with an i5?

well the thinking is the 7850 is over twice as good as the 7770 for 50% more pennys, tho the 7770 is fine at lower res

if you can get a 2nd hand with a reference cooler that puts the heat out the back would be good i think

7850 is worth it then if playing at 1920x1080 especially, even with an i3?
Better than a i5 + 7770 combo?

Thanks.

Stupid question time;
With the HDMI from the GFX card to my TV (well via my amp) will this also transmit the sound or do i need to hookup optical from the motherboard?
