I very much like the Mac Mini and the Dell Zino HD but for my budget, £400 could i build a better spec mini pc? I can get a new Mac Mini 2.26 for just over £400 and a new Dell for around £390.

If building my own, what spec should i be looking at? It needs to be as small as the Mac / Dell, be extremley quiet but a nice powerful unit!

Anybody able to spec one up for me as i haven't a clue. Thanks

How are you specing the Dell to be £390? If you push the CPU to 1.8Ghz it hits £398.99. (Might just be being picky, sorry) Anyway considering that includes the cost of OS as well I think you are going to struggle to get a better price than that unless you are happy to go with an ION setup.

Asus N330 atom ION m-itx board, 2GB DDR667, 250GB HDD, Sony DVDRW, InWin m-itx case and Win7 home Premium - £345 del.

Thats less memory, hdd space and well an atom. Don't get me wrong, not a bad build, but I would have to say i think the dell is a very good price. I haven't looked at the mac...

Quite like the Dell. Still undecided about that or the Mac!! Help!!

Dell = 1.8 cpu

Mac Mini = 2.26 cpu

Not a massive difference in price either as i can get a new Mac Mini 2.26 for £430 Delivered!

Out of the 2, which would you choose and why guys?

Sorry, didn't mean to upset about the 8.99, I was just trying to work out how you had configured by using the price to give me and idea at what specs you were looking at as the CPU clock on its own isn't all that much info.

Again a comparison of 1.8 vs 2.26 isn't fair as the dell uses an AMD chip while Apple use intel.

Anyway the mac is better on paper, its just a question of if you are happy with a mac OS

For my limited understanding the underlying mac OS controls the install of Windows which means that Windows probably won't run as well as it would on a PC, but it should still work reasonably well.
So yeh, if you're prepared to pay for both, I don't see why not. It certainly is nice to look at, I'll give Apple that.

Lol, a student has just walked into my office with a brand new Macbook Pro that is bricked... 2 days old... gotta love them.
