hi guys ive just been out and purchased my 2nd gfx card to finish my sli setup. but how do i go about joining the 2 cards together as there is no connector in the gfx card box or in the motherboard box.

the motherboard is the Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi. which says it supports crossfire/sli

and the gfx card is the GF 7950 GTOC

any help appreciated thanks.

Hi mate, this board looks to me like its a crossfire board, not SLi. You're gonna need 2 ATI cards to run and use the supplied Crossfire cable. I don't know what your specs are. but if you have 2 Nvidia cards, then you're bought the wrong gear!!

Here's a link to the spec page, you'll see it says Crossfire. Also, you'd need a master edition card to run CF too...

Welcome to the forums. :)

Unfortunately what has been said above is correct, that board only supports Crossfire, which is 2x ATi cards, Nvidia do SLi, so you would need an SLi motherboard. :(

EDIT: Nope my bad, you require the hacked drivers to get SLi working on that board.

A new mobo would be the cheapest option if you still wanted to go dual graphics. What size screen are you using and what graphics cards were you trying to pair up? it may be more worthwhile selling your current card and getting one better single ATI card that you can crossfire later. If you change the mobo then you'll really need to wipe your system clean and reinstall windows etc, very time consuming....

oh, and if you use loadsamoney's suggestion yuo're still going to need to find an sli bridge from somewhere, and a longer one too as you have 2 other slots between your pci-e slots...

sorry, didn't see the bit abot the card. You may as well sell both and get yourself an 8800gts :D Should be able to get at least £150 for each of the GT's, and the GTS will still hold its value for a while and rip the hell out of a GT sli system! Thats what i would do anyway :D

If you look around a little you can pick up a GTS for a very reasonable price, not much more than you could sell your two 7950GT's for

Im using a 19" Lcd and Trying to pair up 2 gEFORCE 7950 GT.OC's.
i dont really want to be buying a new mobo and reinstalling everything tbh.im all for trying the hacked drivers but the link is dead for the download.any ideas?

No offence to Loadsa, but i wouldn't want to try hacked drivers on hardware that doesn't officially support it plus you're stuck on old 80 series drivers. I used a 19inch screen when i had SLI for a while, but found it was really limiting the systems performance. If i were you i'd sell the two cards and get a single ATI card, like the x1950XT-X, which you could later crossfire if you wanted and i doubt you'd be out of pocket. That card would be far more than enough for your screen TBH,

hmm i dunno what to do now  these two cards cost me best part of £415, its me own daft fault for not reading what the mobo supported. So are the Ati cards as good as the GF Cards?

They're pretty even to be honest. At the res you'll be running at (1280x1024) then the single x1950xt-x will be fine. Looking at a certain well know auction site you could sell your 2 cards for probably about £300 - £350, get the 1950 for £300 and have a bit left over. Many say ATI image quality is better, and STI cards seen to be better in general than NV at AA. bu you are essentailly left with one brand new useless card, so id go the route of selling both and getting the top end ATI card, it will hold its value better too.

IMO if you can get £350 for the cards as stated above, you could by an 8800gts and keep your current motherboard. Then you would have a single card that would work with dx10 when it comes and it would beat most current dual card setups.

No buying/selling outside of the MM im afraid, all in the FAQ, you need at least 250+ posts, and have been here for about 90 days, then you activate your trust, then its all done in about 24hrs. :)
