Had a knock on the door at about 7pm from an irate woman. Turns out she owns the abandoned garage next to mine. And boy what an unreasonable character she is!

Since I've lived here (a year) the garage next to mine has been unused and unlocked. No-one on the comittee knows who the garage belongs to now as it's changed hands or something. There was a white Mk2 Jag in there and I tried to contact the owner by getting the logbook. Well he came and got the Jag but didn't own the garage, it was just in there as he'd paid up-front for the rent or something so when he heard the bike he had in there was nicked and the car was damaged he came and got it. So it stood empty, unlocked and unused again for the last 3 or 4 months. Anyway, cut a long story short I stuck my flipfront in there while I've been working on mine and after the swapmeet left the spare door and some junk next to it.

So this woman is all *ing and blinding, I'm a liberty taker, her husband is going to come round and knock me out, she's going to fill my garage up with old furniture, get the law on me, she pays her rates etc etc. What's wrong with some people, at least I left my address in there in case anyone needed it moved!

To be fair if I had tried to use my garage and had to wait for someone I didn't know to clear out his junk that I hadn't given him permission to store there I'd be a little annoyed.

She was probably just trying to stop you doing it again with all the ranting and raving, after all you used it in the first place so she has no reason to believe that next time she turns up you won't have taken liberties again.

The thing is the garage hadn't been touched for what looked like years, they were broken into about 2 years ago but what was in this one was all covered in cobwebs and the car that was in there hadn't moved since 1988!!! So I guessed it must have belonged to some old codger who had passed away years ago hence no rent paid on the garage, no-one knew who the owner was and all the cobwebs. They're all old around here!

If it was my garage and I wanted to use it then i'd want the stuff moved but personally i'd have gone down the "excuse me mate, you couldn't shift that stuff out of my garage could ya? I'll give you a hand if you like" route rather than flying off the deep end :D

Unfortunately the majority of people seem to have this "you shout, you get" mentality :(

If you were using her property, and then you left as soon as she asked you to leave.... then i believe she has no legal comeback.

Contrary to popular belief, its not illegal to go onto someone elses land. "Trespassing" is not leaving someones land when you are asked to. I think so anyway (need to do some revision for those summer exams  )

Back on point. I would've done the same as you, if the garage was just going to waste.

should have punched her in the tit

Haha oh god, your "Please use a sensible signature" sig and your username made that comment golden.

Edit: Just to clarify I don't advocate using one's mammaries as punchbags.

Also, I can see where you (the OP) are coming from and why you used the storage. I thought the response from the owner was uncalled for and if it were me I would have had a quiet word if I needed the space for something of my own.

I would've just moved your stuff myself..out onto the pavement, where it would have sat until you, or some other 'kind' person collected it ;)

Well to be honest I wouldn't actually have minded even if she had done this! Some people just go waaaay off the rails over the smallest things. Christ knows what she'd have been like if I'd cut the locks off to get in or if my car was in there :D

This is true. If you do not leave by the shortest route and quickly when asked, it is Trespass

I don't mean to be sexist but I think it's a bit of a women thing... ;) I get hell for breaking a 50p glass from my mother and GF for example.

I literally just LOL'd at that. I mean a genuine LOL. Why do I find that so funny?

haha, me too - I had to supress it as everyone is in bed, ended up as a mutley snigger.

lol

Sounds like a typical gobby fishwife type of woman, never happier than when she's using her foul mouth to it's full capacity. I can't stand women like that, there should be a cull on them IMO.

I would be somewhat annoyed if my (regularly used) garage suddenly filled up with someone elses carp (not actualy possible as very full of my own!), but if I had abandoned it for years and found contact details then I would be quite happy as long as the stuff was moved out ASAP.
