My Denon Envaya Mini has completely died one month after the warranty period ended. This seems to be a common problem so I won't be buying another.

Could someone recommend a replacement for under £100? I'm not bothered about Bluetooth or NFC as an aux or optical port is all I need. It's in the bedroom so epic mega sound not required.

Thanks.

I'd probably go for a pair of powered speakers such as Edifier R1600T III, if Bluetooth and portability are not needed.

From my point of view, no point paying for things that are not needed; Bluetooth and portability. Edifier speakers will offer better sound quality than you'll get from any £100 Bluetooth speaker.

If a small speaker is preferable though, then Cambridge Audio's Bluetooth speakers are good. JBL also get a lot of good comments.

How about the JBL playlist.

It has a chromecast audio built into the box for a much neater solution rather than having a load of trailing wires from a pair of active speakers in the bedroom. Lidl recently had a similar device on sale recently for £60. Can't vouch for the sound quality but both products was designed by the same company (Frontier Silicon) who produced chromecast audio for Google.

ETA: Unfortunately it also means you may have a spare chromecast audio device so not sure how you feel about my option.

The JBL playlist (new to me) product spec does not clearly say whether you can cast from plex (ie. your own media), or utube, from inside a chrome browser, which is the primary mode I use CCA.
(as you say) with same Company being involved, and chromecast audio built in terminology, I would expect it to work, but nice to be sure.

Best to contact JBL to confirm your needs.

ETA: can't see why not though since there is cast function so you could stream youtube via the cast setting on the app/browser.
