What's the best small USB type wireless reciever I can get for a mates pc so he doesn't have to always run the cable from his hall into the livingroom each time he wants to game. He can't close the door when he does this. It's his birthday and I was going to buy him a small USB adapter to slot into his machine. Are there any decent ones that I can buy that won't lag or have crappy ping?

Wireless card isn't an option for his case so it has to be the USB thumbsize tiny adapter. Which is best to buy?

Small wireless adapters aren't that great for gaming. If a proper ethernet cable is not an option, how about power lines?

Powerlines is a good idea but he would have to be a good friend to change from the USB prices to the powerline :) saying that decent sets for £24

I recently used to game on Ethernet but it was impractical for me so I bought a tp link ac1200 for £20 and it's exactly the same as the Ethernet connection.

Same ping times to servers and I get my full 106 Mbps with Virgin media so no speed loss either.

Wireless has come a long way since I last used it for gaming.

Nano 500's are OK, I have a pair for emergency/temp use, just remember they're only ever going to hit 100Mbit as they LAN port is 10/100 so maximum of 100/100 symmetrical which makes the 500Mbit a bit of a joke.
