The never ending search for the perfect tripod is ongoing...

Currently use a Manfrotto 190CX for my travels but when I'm travelling light it's a bit long when folded up.

I'm looking instead at perhaps getting either the Redged 525K (as seem on here) or one of the Mefoto tripods. I'm thinking the Roadtrip is probably the best bet over the Globetrotter as it's slightly smaller and lighter.

The Roadtrip is a bit bigger and more expensive than the Redged 525K but I think the extra height would be useful. Has anyone on here got a Mefoto? I'd also be interested to see a photo of the Redget showing it's actual height, I can't seem to find any online. I know how tall it is but seeing it is useful.

Use will be for landscapes with a DSLR and mid sized lenses and also occasionally for wildlife with a 120-300 f/2.8 so it needs to be sturdy.

Good to know it's fairly sturdy. The problem with the globetrotter is its only just smaller than my current 190CX, which is why I'm erring towards the road trip. I was hoping to try both out yesterday but a shop near me hasn't got them in stock at the moment, hopefully I can test them properly in the next couple of weeks when they get them in stock.

The Gitzos are horrendusly expensive unfortunately, way above my budget at the moment. :(
