Small Upgrade advice please...

Hello just a couple noobie questions.

New case on its way from Santa, Im looking to swap my stuff over from my dell XPS and change a couple bits whilst doing so.

Current spec

CPU
Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.80GHz 29 °C
Lynnfield 45nm Technology
RAM
8.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)

Motherboard
Dell Inc. 0T568R (CPU 1) 22 °C

Graphics
DELL ST2310 (1920x1080@60Hz)
ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series (ATI) 41 °C

Hard Drives
1887GB ARRAY0 (RAID)
66GB ARRAY1 (SATA)


1st thing i want to upgrade is the RAM will this be compatible?

I will be ordering a new PSU and GPU together in Jan

One Question which i have Though is about my hardrives, why is one raid and one SATA?

can't help with the hard disk question

but for the ram unless I'm mistaken the one you have is 1333mhz while the one you've linked to is 1600mhz, you should be able to run them together but will need to run the kingston at 1333mhz as I doubt your current ram will happily oc to 1600mhz. do you happen to have the brand/model of the ram? tho saying all that 8gb is enough unless you want to do photo editing with several photos and the like.
 
oh so where it says 665MHz that is per channel? thought that was abit slow!
ok ill leave the ram alone then (yes aswell as game i do photoshop work)

I looked into the drive manager and it doesnt give any info what so ever just states standard manufacturer!? pft

Thanks for the help though, saves me a few more quid so I can upgrade to a 6970 if the 79XX is to expensive
