Hi,
I'm looking to get a new CPU and GFX ASAP.
Currently have:
XFX NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX 256mb pci express
ASUS 8N32-SLI Deluxe
AMD 64 3000+
2gb RAM.

I play Team Fortress 2 mostly on a 2405 @ 1920 x 1200 and get between 25-50 (depending if I'm looking at a wall or fighting..lol) Even with everything on low.
I need something to get it more smoother at this massive resolution. I've been recommended getting:
£41 - AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ (Socket 939) - OEM
£164 (this week only) - Asus GeForce EN8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Don't have a lot of money and I'm not looking to play/buy other games (crysis etc). Do you think this is a good idea for me?

Thanks for any advice, looking to buy very very soon..

yep would be a good upgrade, but make sure you overclock the 3800 to at least around 2.2-2.4 at the miminum, but even if it isnt it would be good.

Also thats pretty much the perfect card for the budget.

yeah tbh you can't go wrong with the 8800gt imo it's the best all round mid range card since my trusty old 9800pro back in the day :P
