Small upgrade. Hopefully small problem....

With the help of people here I have just made a small upgrade to my system - An Asus 7970 and a decent CPU cooler, so that I can over clock my 2500k. I fitted my new parts but my PC now won't post.

I have removed the panel, watched it start and confirm all the relevant lights and fans come on as per normal but there is no beep, and when plugged in to my monitor there is no signal.

Everything is plugged in properly as far as I can see. Any thoughts as to what the (hopefully simple) issue might be?

Have you tried updating to the latest motherboard bios? Sometimes that can fix these problems. Take the new card out and use the inbuilt graphics of the 2500k to flash. Use the flashing tool in the bios, not a windows flashing software.

What make and model is the psu?

No. I took the new GPU out and its still not posting at all. On a couple of occasions after powering up it will all die after merely seconds into the process, then moments later it will start up again, only to stop again. Its like its trying to start up but takes a few attempts to get going.

I have a CoolerMaster GX 750w. Will I be able to reach the bios with the onboard grx if its not posting?

I plugged my old GRX card in and it booted up (without the posting beep) with a signal going into my monitor but just as Windows was about to log on everything switched itself off.

How about trying with your old GPU in safe mode?

I just tried my old GPU, with my new cooler, and it booted only to die at the Win screen. I currently have my old stock CPU cooler in, with my old GPU and everything is running fine so I will now try my new GPU with my old cooler and see if that's okay. It is in then the issue is with my cooler I would guess.

Maybe it wasn't mounted properly and the temps were hitting (unsafe) so the machine was shutting down..

What is your new cooler?

My new cooler is an Alaska Venom Pico. The pins were so difficult to try and fix down properly compared to my stock cooler. My system has now booted up just fine with my old cooler and new GPU, so its the new cooler causing the issue.
