Small Upgrade needed

Hello,

I need a small upgrade for my PC. I currently have:

i5 2500K
16GB RAM
Asus HD 7950 DirectCU II TOP V2 3072MB
233GB Samsung SSD 840
Corsair Carbide 300R Mid and some Corsair PSU.

Anyway, I need a new CPU, Case, PSU and a fan controller. I ideally want to overclock the new CPU as well and I will have an extra 2 HDD to fit in also. It would also be beneficial if the case had support for more fans and a fan controller (my current one doesn't)

Budget is £400, but if I can get something good for a lot less I'd be happier.

Maybe you could pick up a used 2600k on the bay or likewise, as those 2nd gen processors are still strong.

Case is always personal choice, but seeing as you have a fairly decent amount of money to play with, you could go with the Corsair Obsidian/Carbide/Whatever Series. PSU you could probably do with a 600--650W I think, should be enough. Are you likely to X-Fire/SLI in the near future though?

YOUR BASKET
1 x NZXT Hale Power 90+ 650W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £89.99
1 x BeQuiet Pure Power L8 630W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply - With 120mm Silent Wing Fan Built in £79.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 650W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £73.99
Total : £253.57 (includes shipping : £8.00).

How many fans do you need, the 300R can house up to 7. How many fans have you got and why can`t you install a fan controller, you have 3x5.25" bays.
What model is your Corsair Psu?
The only Cpu upgrade I would go for is a secondhand 3770k. And depending on your current Psu a second 7950.
And what cooler do you have?

The fan controller I bought has a very loose fitting, it's a 5.25 one but just isn't sitting right, I haven't tried another one. The PSU isn't a modular one which is what I'm wanting to upgrade it for. I guess I could keep the case and risk another fan controller though.

I have a Corsair Hydro H60

Which fan controller is it? Does it just slot in or can you put a couple of screws in the side.
I can spec you a modular Psu, will you be going xfire any time in the future?

I might want to xfire at some point but I don't see a need for it at the moment.

Its an antec one I think, but it doesn't slot in well and the screws don't line up with the case, so it either sits with a 1cm gap inside or out.

If you have not had the Antec fan controller that long, send it back. Is there no way you can wedge it in, I know it`s not ideal, but could save you some money.
Here`s a selection of 750W Psu`s which will be enough if you want to xfire in the future. Also included a few fan controllers you can check out.

The controller wobbeles inside it so I have to prop it up with a bit of card.

I could just keep the case, but I'd still want to upgrade the CPU and maybe cooler instead.

Here you go, a great cooler at a great price.
I would just OC your 2500K if you hav`nt already. The only Cpu worth upgrading to without having to change your mobo as well, is the 3770K.
If you have access to the MM, then have a look for one in there.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Alpenföhn K2 Mount Doom CPU Cooler £49.99
Total : £59.59 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Okay, so I'm taking the SuperFlower one mentioned above, and that cooler you mentioned Idleman. I am very under budge so is there anything else anyone can recommend on upgrading or will I just be throwing money away for the sake of it?

Just stick with the cooler and Psu. Save your money or look around for a 3770k, if you still want to upgrade your Cpu.
