Nobody laugh....

I have not really touched my pc since FarCry and HL2 and now when I try to play COD2, it really chugs

I have XP3000+, 1GB RAM and a Sapphire 9800pro

Am I best upgrading the cpu to say a A64 3500+ and then upgrading to PCI-E or shall I get a 6800GT AGP?

One or the other really, can't afford to splash the cash at the moment

Cheers

If the CPU is an XP 3000+ as apposed to an Athlon 64 3000+ then you will need a new mobo to change to the 3500+.

As for graphics cards, AGP cards are overpriced compared to their PCIE counterparts.

Best to get a 6800GT/X800Pro/X850Pro/X800XL 2nd hand or even better hold off & save a bit more so when you sell your old gear you can get a new mobo, CPU & graphics.
