Try looking at the mirror in a british leyland mini. I seem to remember them being quite small, though its a long time since I looked at one.

Don't go there unless you have to. Certainly don't tell them what you drive as they will probably nick it.

approx 225mm wide in my mk3 'deo, and about 70mm tall at the narrowest point, and about 85mm tall where the controls for the auto dipping bit is (including plastic cassing, which adds a border of about 5mm all the way round).

The one on my spitfire seems very small. I'll try and remember to measure it tonight but I'd guess it's less than 200mm

How about the Cobra trick of fitting one on the dash?

Get the RV30 one from Halfords, £4.99 and its a suction cup and very light .

I know exactly what you mean about the standard one, I managed to break mine after two days, when I knocked it off trying to get in with the roof on.

Pop Browns do a chromed metal oval one for the hotrods. Dad has one in his 34 and it's about 150mm wide by 50mm deep. Don't expect to get it for less than about £50 though.

Halfords do smaller ones but I don't think they have any dimming effect, which you really need.

The Matiz one seems good because it actually fits onto the windscreen using the standard mount.

A Summit RV-34 or a Pearl PMR111 are both only 110mm.

The 111R mount is different to the K series ones for some reason

Yeah they are the suction ones unfortunatly, the RV-34 is much smaller but like you said its just plain mirror style and probably fairly useless.
