My wife is looking to change from her '07 Corsa to something with a bit more space to accomodate our new 6-week old! :D

Ideally looking for something with enough boot space to take the Quinny Buzz pushchair and all the other junk you have to cart around with you when you have a little 'un. ;)

We have been looking at the Vauxhall Meriva & the Seat Altea which seem to fit the bill in terms of size - not too big but big enough to take the gear we need to!

Looking at max 2 years old with a budget of £10-11k

Any thoughts??

first off congrats on the baby.

the corsa is actually ok for 1 child. we have a three yr old and my wife drives a yaris.

if your deadset on changing, i suggest you look for something you can wipe clean and dont mind getting dirty :)

whats your thoughts on insruance group, MPG and other features?

Not really neccessary for it to be an MPV, we just want enough space to be able to cart all the gear around and for it to be comfortable for elderly people to travel in aswell!! (grandparents etc!)

The Corsa is OK but we have to detach the wheels on the travel system to get it in the boot and there is barely enough room for a passenger in the front seat when the baby seat and base are behind it!

Been to have a look at an Altea and an Alear XL this afternoon and quite liked them both - but know nothing about them as a model!

Insurance not an issue, I work in insurance and we would only be looking at a lowish cc anyway and MPG not a huge factor coz the missus doesnt do much, even when she goes back to work its not far!

The only must-have is air con!

Any mid sized normal hatch will be fine. In your budget there is loads.

People underestimate the size of some travel systems, a corsa boot is not ok for a travel system and a weeks worth of shopping for example.

Exactly!

The reason I'm looking at a small MPV is the ride height is better for my wife and they dont seem to be too long/wide! (limited parking space at home!)

Anyone got any experience of the Altea??

if u like the altea then i would say dont worry about it :)

VW group so cars are decent. even basic spec should have climate control. 110BHP TDI SE models would be a good option.
