Smallish upgrade

Hi all,

Looking to do a bit of an upgrade to my current setup and looking for some advice. At the moment I have:

i5 2500K
16GB 1600Mhz DDR3
R9 290
MSI P67A-GD65

I have hard drives etc so looking to basically swap out all of these components. I'm thinking about a 980ti (moving to Nvidia) and an i7 6700K. I would go for a Haswell-E as the extra cores may be useful for me but the clock speed is obviously lower for gaming. Not sure whether that would have too much of a difference or not and I wouldn't be overclocking.

Would also maybe like a new case and a Corsair H100i but again this can change. Budget is ideally under £1000, the cheaper the better!

Thanks :)

My opinion is to keep everything apart from the GPU and overclock the CPU.

But if you're intent on spending then either a 5820K or 6600K for games would be my suggestion. The 6700K is expensive and sits in an uncomfortable position for me - only 100mhz difference in core clock speed with the 6600K and 4 real cores vs 6 for the 5820K

What resolution are you gaming at?

Cheapest alternative would be sell the Cpu and Gpu. Then look for a 2600K/2700K or 3770K, H100i and 980ti in the MM.
If you don't already have one, you could pick up a decent size ssd. Might also find a case to your liking.
Then maybe look at X99, near the end of the year, when you could pick up some bargains.
