Hello
For some time I have been using Gigabyte Easy Tune 6 software to control the CPU fan speed . Historically I was able to achieve an almost silent machine. (This software has been known to cause issues to many , see below)
However since upgrading the RAM and GPU , I have been experiencing instability which is solved when uninstalling the easy tune software ( after much troubleshooting
)
Please bear in mind the motherboard only has two 4 pin fan connector ( for CPU and SYS) One of which ( CPU ) was historically controlled through the ET software
I have since tried SpeedFAn , upon opening the speedfan software , we are given ( manually configurable ) percentage fields , which we are led to believe control the fan speeds .
However When changing any of these percentage fields there is no change of fan speed at all
After some research I found that the smart Fan bios switch may need to be enabled or disabled . I tried speed fan with both Speed fan enabled and disabled . - However the fan speed remains the same
What is interesting is that speedfan reports there are three fans ( along with a static changeable percentage ) , however if I enable the smart fan in bios , then speedfan reports six
Anyhow this is the second stab I have had with speedfan , please be patient with me . However if there is any advice or thoughts you have , then please share
