Smart heating systems - temperature maintenance question

Just recently upgraded from a Nest system at home to a zoned system with Drayton Wiser so have full control over downstairs UFH, and every bedroom individually.

It's great that I can set a temperature in a room and for it to trigger the heating to come on when it drops below that temp, but is there a way of telling it to heat to a certain temperature if it falls below a specific one? I.e.....
  • when room drops below 17c, heat the room to 18c, then don't heat again till the room drops below 17c?
At the moment I have a room set to 17c but over night I cab hear it coming on and off every 20-30 mins as the temp obvs drops below the 17c and it fires up to get it back above 17c.

Is this economical? It's quite disruptive to hear the boiler fire up all the time and was wondering if there was a better way to maintain temperature in the room.

Or is it going to be much of a muchness in that the boiler will be on for a similar amount of time total if it heats up to 18c in longer burst, or if it heats to 17c in quicker, shorter bursts?

Look for a differential/hysterisis type setting, so the temp has to drop whatever thats set to before coming back on. I've got Heatmiser stats for the UFH in each room and it has that setting to avoid that constant on/off you're hearing.

Understandable but unless there's a big drop in temps blankets are a good enough and your also giving the boiler a break .
Yeh i'd generally agree but she isn't big/old enough to have a blanket yet and the room does get quite cold if no heating is on.

Maybe i'll set a manual schedule for every 2 hours for it to come on for 20 mins to see how that goes.
