I don't know whether anyone has experience of or insight into potentially faulty meters? It's a secure liberty100 (smets1).

Had no problems from April to the end of January then it stopped automatically sending readings with the WAN light on. Alerted my supplier who got back to me today saying they couldn't fix it remotely and just to send manual readings. Read the meter earlier and something seems awry.

The last automated (smart) reading on the 30th Jan was 23305, the current reading is saying 25231 which would mean I'd used 1926 units in the last ~5 weeks. This would be more than I'd used in the previous 10 months (1660 units since April). Using the other menus on the meter it's saying I used 229 in February (316 in Jan and 327 in December) and nothing unusual this month. The same information is viewable on the IHD. So it seems to be ~1600 units above where it should be. Any ideas?

Cheers,

Andrew

FWIW whoever designed smart meter buttons needs to be expatriated to some deserted island. How you can screw up such a simple 2 button interface is baffling.

Does seem it was an odd issue, apparently not all suppliers are consistent with which register they use. Ovo guide for my meter says to do it differently to others. Despite being on a single rate tariff my usage is being tracked on IMP R01 accessed through menu 6 whereas most places say to use the reading from 9. The 1610 units were on IMP R02.

From the ovo support forum:
"When this meter is switched from a dual rate to a single rate plan, the 2 registers will remain on the meter, with only one continuing to clock your usage. In this case we’ll use the reading on this remaining active register to calculate your charges, this may differ to how other suppliers operate (as some will request the total register reading)."

Not great if you'd be switching supplier or your meter stops automatically sending readings.

Yup, just had one installed yesterday was interested to see where it displayed the export figure as we have solar. Asked the guy who installed the meter how to see the export and he said it doesn't even show it.

After faffing around eventually found it indeed does.
