Smart meter placement

Nothing significant should be radiating from the microwave else you would end up cooking yourself.
Probably not an issue especially as I suspect it isn't actually a meter just the display unit.
Andi.

The smart meter will detect the energy coming from the microwave and likely increase your bills. Best place to put them is in the freezer.

Serious answer, it's just a receiver and won't be affected. Unless your gf is ab electrician and for some reason has installed the actual meter above the microwave.

I mean, ours is connected via Wi-Fi so potentially not the best placement. The best placement will be near the meter.

As above, if it's just the display screen (and not the meter itself) then near a microwave might not be the best place for it. It's no biggie if you do, it's just that it might not work when the microwave is, umm, microwaving.

As for the smart meter itself, it uses a SIM and sends data to the energy supplier over mobile networks. This can cause interference if you have something like a hifi nearby. For example, I had a small hifi in the same corner of the room as my smart meter and it used to pick up the beeping sounds as the meter sent its data. Often it would only last for around 20 seconds but sometimes it would go on for 5 minutes or more, which was a touch annoying to say the least
