Smart phone that doesn't need charging every night?

Maybe if you don't use it. I'm lucky to get 24 hours out of mine (I've done the battery setup stuff and on jj9). That's with either wifi or 3g on at all time, but gps off, though my reception at work is poor. My old 2g work bb lasts 4-5 days.

CM7 roms struggle to get me through the day, but SS5 does 2 days at a push, I do charge it nightly though.

My old iPhone 3G can go three days easily with that kind of usage. No need to go turning everything off, unless phones have gotten less power efficient since. ;)

Got the original Xperia X1 and battery life was pretty dire for the first few weeks - barely made it through a day, but now I can get the best part of a week between charges, keeping the screen brightness to a moderate level, disabling 3G/Wifi unless needed and reducing unnecessary background tasks all helped.

Also I find that doing a decent discharge/recharge once a month for the first few months seems to make a big difference to battery life despite some people stating its not needed, tho seems to be required less after awhile - maybe its just better calibrating how accurate it is before showing empty who knows.

You're going to struggle to get awesome battery life out of an Android/iPhone. The Blackberry Bold 9780 has great battery life (Up to 5 days with light usage) but there will be a new range of BBs coming out soon, so I would just wait for those.

The iPhone4 has the best battery life of all current smartphones. It does that by having a MASSIVE battery, which it can do because they don't have to make the back cover etc come to bits.

It ain't that massive - it's around 1450mah.

the SGS2'S battery is 1650mah and lasts very long.
