Smart/Sexy Case

My v1110 arrived today, I'm in awe! I'm sure you'll be the same.

That looks good, again it's a shame it's too big. I have to lug it back and forwards from uni in a car with limited space so small is good!:p

Well I ordered it a couple of hours ago, hopefully should arrive tomorrow, ooh goody!:p

I prefer them with a door, the front of the V1010 does nothing for me.

Good taste generally though. ;)

I always think door does nothing but restrict your front air flow, too much hassle with optical drives, fan controller and they cost more! I'm glad I got rid of my old case with door and went for a Lian Li V1010B and it's fantastic.

What case did you get in the end?

The B25.:)

First impressions: I'm glad I didn't get a bigger case, as this one is quite a lot bigger than the P150, especially in depth. It's so light as well, I knew it would be but didn't realise just how light, that worried me a bit to begin with, I wondered how good it would be with noise and resonance, especially as it was creaking slightly when I was transfering the components over. After finishing and turning it on though I was pleasantly suprised, it is almost quieter than the P150.

The case has some foam on the underside of the top which I didn't realise, so I assume the doors also have that between the two layers of aluminium, I guess this helps reduce the noise. The fans that come with it are pretty good too, once I slowed them down to 5v they could hardly be heard over the top of a 5v Yate Loon (I think). At the moment I only have the back one and the bottom front one going, the CPU temp is around 37 degrees and it's almost silent (and I am a stickler for noise). I haven't yet stressed anything so I may have to change things if it decides to get a hot though. EDIT: I've just started super pi to see what the temps are like, and so far the temp has crept up to 54, not looking too bad so far.

The actual case, it looks good, but i'm now paranoid about scratching it, and I definately need to got a new black DVD drive if I want to leave the door open much:p. Build quality wise i'm a little disappointed, it's well built but IMO not quite up there with my P150 case (except the front of the P150). The edges are a bit sharp and the gaps in the panels seem a bit large, having said that it's probably just me being a bit picky, as well as the difficulty of working with aluminium over steel. The only other problem is the hand prints now all over the case, me thinks i'm going to need to wipe it down regularly...:p

I have a couple of pictures so i'll stick them up sometime in the near future.

Hmm First snag with the B25, the USB and audio points are on the side of the case, which does make the case look smarter but it also means when the case is in the computer section of my desk I can't use them... :p

You do need to be careful with black Lian Li's they scratch very easily. I've actually scratched a black Lian Li with my bare hands. Silver one's don't suffer the same problem. If you're carefull though it shouldnt be a problem and anything serious can be replaced with a new panel.

Nice choice. I love my PC-7, but with all the new cases about I'm seriously thinking about investing in a new case when I build a new rig!

I was going to suggest the X500 or x2000, but the B25 seems to be ideal for you! :D

I'd say either do a quick mod with a dremel, etc (cleanest option) or buy a little extension thing. Up to you really.

I'm guessing it's university accommodation is it? In which case, the extension might be the best option if you'll be moving out eventually.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but I quite like the look of the Aplus Black Pearl WCR. Granted, it looks really similar to the Lian Li v2010b but it's different enough to look, dare I say, possibly a bit better from the front. It's definitely worth a look...especially if thinking about water cooling at some point.

I'm only touching in when essential, ie moving! :D

Yeah it's a student house so I don't think the dremel option would be a good idea. I was thinking about an extension adaptor, or maybe using it as an excuse to buy a new screen with USB ports (BAD ANDY!). I assume they are easy to find, I haven't really looked into it at the moment.

You're about a month too late ;), but it's not bad a looking case.:)

I got the B25 as well in the end and it was a great to work with, so much easier than my friend's antec 900.

It's a very sexy case as well.
