Smartphone buttons have a mistaken sense of identity

I have a Lenovo P2 and, after trying to clean my volume and power buttons to make them more clicky, the bloody buttons are messed. Whenever I try to press volume down, it increases the volume. Also my power button (which is far away from the volume rocker) NOW CHANGES THE FLIPPIN VOLUME!

I genuinely baffled. Anyone had this problem or can solve it?

I just charged my phone and the power button is working fine now. The volume buttons are still haywire and don't change the volume linearly. I cleaned them by blowing on it and dabbing a little bit of antibac alcohol around it.
