Well I am tinkering with the idea of buying a smartwatch. I know nowt about 'em.

Anyway, I'm googling and browsing for info and prices. I see this thing called a FitBit Versa 4 retailing online for around £180 new. That seems to be the going rate.

So I'm also idly having a look on ebay to see what the going rate is there. And I see a few listings stating "Fitbit Versa 4 Pebble Only" going for aroung £60 new and sealed.

Clearly stating I'd need to get a charger and strap. Straps and chargers can be bought for under twenty quid. Fair enough. Presumably it does come with a battery built in.

Is this "pebble" a really a genuine FitBit versa 4?

Am I missing something here? Is my desire for a bargain blinding my rational sense?

It will be genuine, I think it's relatively easy to scam warranty replacements out of Fitbit (based on how easy it was for me to get a replacement when the glue gave up on my old one and the screen popped out of the body) and that's how they send out the replacements just the pebble in a bag so it'll be legit but I'd guess no real comeback if any issues arise.

By gum that was a fast response. tom_e
Well, looks encouraging then. I reckon I'd be willing to take a punt on this. Paypal buyers guarantee might help if there is an issue.
Just got to make sure I buy a similar coloured strap for the pebble.

Depends on what features you want. There's brand new chinese knock off brands available on amazon at even less than that ebay price. My misses got one a couple of years ago for ~£40 just to use for holidays and its been fine.

The extra expense for seems largely to be about fashion and extra features that you may never use.
thank you peterwalkley,
Says they are Fitbit versa 4. If it looks like a versa 4 and works like a versa 4 I think I'll take a chance. :)
