Smartwatch Thread (news/apps/updates)

Its strange that we can't preorder considering the release is next month, apparently.

I don't have much confidence in Motorola. They said early October for the UK but devices shipping from Play don't ship in the US until the 22nd of this month. If they can't satisfy the home country I somehow doubt the UK will get any better treatment.

IMO Motorola has truly failed on the 360 :(

Seems a thorough review. Motorola must have paid next to nothing to use them socs, I can't understand why you would make such a premium device and stick such a poor processor in it.

The 360 has lots of hype behind it, I think it will sell well but leave nearly all buyers disappointed which is a shame and will likely put lots of people off buying any smartwatches for a while.

Again, if it performs, who cares what the specs are?
Admittedly the 360 does appear to be less than steller, but the point stands. Specs count for little.

It matters a lot in this case, because due to the old SoC, the battery life has taken a huge hit compared with what people expected it to be.

That's a very important factor. If the watch can't get through one single full day of use without needing a charge, then that's going to make it worthless for a lot of potential buyers.

Therefore, it's not performing, because of the specifications. So I think it's fair to care what the specifications are; they directly affect how usable the product is on a day to day basis.

Other watches are getting a day easily with screen on. The 360 is getting a day with the screen off. There's people also saying you can see noticeable stuttering when comparing to the LG or Samsung watches.

I made the point because it doesn't perform. Make sense now?
Wow.

That's the problem. People are expecting them have batteries better than their phones. A once a day charge if it lasts for a day is acceptable. The reviews that go a little more in depth and test properly do show it lasting a day, which to me is more than acceptable.

My only realistic concern is the performance observation that one review has had.
The MKBHD review will be the decider for me.

Well I think the best smartwatch on the market is clearly the 360 as it's the only one I would be willing to be caught leaving the house wearing. No smart-watch on the market has got it right, time to wait for someone to do better.

Motorola are clear frontrunners on the smartwatch design battle though, so guessing gen2 of the 360 will be a much more tempting prospect.
