Smartwatch Thread (news/apps/updates)

I am debating whether to have a smart watch .
All I need it for is monitor my heart rate - if it did eratic heart beat as well and also blood pressure that would be a bonus - I am not looking for a cheepy but something that will do the job with no bother. It has to be small as I have kiddies wrists.
I can't see any other reasons for one unless telling you how far you have walked or sat on your backside.
If I left my phone at home do these things still work.

Thanks
Finally got myself a GARD PRO Health Watch
Does everything I want but I do not use it for anything else -It is small and fit's my wrist well.

What's the go to smartwatch these days? Tichwatch Pro 3 Ultra currently, but it seems EOL and not been updated in an age and its starting to feel rather sluggish.

OnePlus watch 3
Ticwatch Atlas
Pixel Watch 3

That's the three I'm eyeing up.

Not on your list but the Samsung Ultra comes up cheap on offer regularly and is really slick.

I paid £280 for the 5G version after trade in.

Any reason why you're avoiding Samsung?
I did that for years/decades and now own an S23U and Watch6 - they just work.

I have the Samsung watch ultra, also got the 5g version cheap on a deal, cannot fault it. It is a large watch but you soon get used to it.

Got a Xiaomi Redmi Watch 5 lite last week. Great battery; nice screen; good GPS; infrequent heart rate updates are no real use for exercise fitness. Cheaper than my old Sony Smartwatch 3 at £40!

Be prepared for NO updates with Ticwatch

Have had the Samsung Ultra since Dec 13th and haven't found anything as yet that would put me off buying another.

At the time it was £449 on Amazon, not the orange strap with the £100 cashback.

Must sell on my Garmin Vivoactive 3 sometime.

My green Watch 7 strap broke yesterday. Going to have to invest in a new strap but will also contact Samsung about it. Ripped at the seem where the buckle and clip is.

I've been in the Amazfit ecosystem for a few years now, had a few of the earlier bands, and now using a GTS 2 Mini, but I quite fancy a change.

I use it to monitor my sleep, steps, heart rate, and sometimes record my activities, but generally just use my phone.

I never use it for calls or messages or notifications, they're all turned off, it's just far easier to use my phone.

Any recommendations with decent battery life up to around £300 please? Cheers.

Hate to quote myself, but...

Just ordered a Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2, seemed very rude not to with 50% off.

Seems like a not bad option, I've had a Samsung Active 2 since about 2019, since I started working from home (2022) I've used it when out & about and for tennis/other sports, it's an LTE one which has been handy as I've not ALWAYS needed my phone around me, but in fairness even when I'm at tennis the phone is in my bag on the side of the court and within bluetooth range, the Samsung Fit 3 looked good until you see there is no call facilities at all and no speaker, the watch is really just used for fitness tracking/occasional (very occasional) calls and mostly reading notifications when the phone isn't on me, I'd stick with it but last week the face decided to pop of the body of the watch, it's still working absolutely fine, but the glue has failed and looks a pain to get replaced and done correctly.

So I guess I'm looking for the erquivalent of a Fit 3 that can do basic replies to text/whatsapp messages, do calls (bluetooth) if needed and recieve notifications from an array of apps - any thoughts? (Not too csotly is also a big thing!)

After some toing, froing and too much time spent i'm either looking at

Cheap Fitness tracker option - Samsung Fit 3
More costly but still decent price watch - Huawei Watch Fit 4

Looks like both would suit my needs, the Fit is a bit more streamlined for exercise etc.. but the Huawei is more functional and still only £129... decisions.

Notifications seem to have stopped working on my Galaxy Watch 6. They still appear but there is no vibrate or anything to actually notify me. Everything seems to be configured correctly. Anyone else had this problem and any ideas? Or is it factory reset time? I've googled etc but can't seem to find any solutions.

The Ticwatch Pro 5 Enduro is on offer for £129.99 at the moment..

Whilst Ticwatches don't get loads of updates, I've been using the Pro 5 enduro since Xmas, and can't fault the battery life, it's stupid! And it also just seems to work, I've had the least issues of any smart watch in the house..

Still, not for everyone, but if you wanted something solid with 5 days of battery life for peanuts, it's not a bad shout.

I have just set up my GW6 Classic & I am not getting any notifications from any apps. I have set a GW6 up before so i do know what to do.

But like you I am not getting a thing notification wise.

Interesting. Maybe a software thing. I think this happened around the time I last updated my phone. But surely there would be more widespread reports if that was the case. I can find a few people with the same issue but not that many any not necessarily recent either. I think I'm gonna factory reset the watch at some point in the next couple of weeks and see if that makes a difference.

I did a factory reset made no difference.

I did a restore from a back from February no difference.

So I've no idea what the next step is

UPDATE :

I tried setting up the watch with my Pixel 9 XL to see if I would bet notifications on the GW 6.
Yes I did all worked fine

So I went back to the S25 Ultra & it did not receive notifications.

I decided to factory reset my S25 ultra & set up the GW 6 up from the start & test.

All working fine now.

Bit drastic I agree but it fixed the issue of no notifications.

Hope this helps EH75
