Smartwatch Thread (news/apps/updates)

Now the bloody thing is sending me too many notifications! Only happening with whatsapp but basically if someone sends me a whatsapp message it sends me about 5 different notifications for the same message. You can imagine how crazy this gets if you have a few chats on the go, especially group chats. I am regularly now having to dismiss over 50 notifications even though I've only received a few messages. Dunno what the hell is going on tbh.
Looks like you may have to reset phone & watch like I did. Mine has been perfect since the dual reset.

Just noticed you can double stack codes for broken smartwatches against the Classic 8 LTE. Got it for £244.10 which doesn't hurt too much.

Got a chance to compare the watch 8 classic 46mm against my watch 6 classic 43mm , Screen size is exactly the same. The watch 8 classic feels bulky in weight and on the wrist even though depth is slightly smaller. It's the squircle design which is wasting unnecessary space. Just not impressed even with the great trade in deals which come to a total of under £200. Something to consider if your thinking of switching..

That's a real shame, another generation that I'll skip then. Thanks for sharing.

I can only assume the squircle allows for a larger battery otherwise why would they do it? Is there anyone out there that actually prefers a square watch? (If there is they're wrong :p)

I think my Classic 8 will be getting returned ( when it turns up ). I've got the GW6 classic 47mm and foolishly thought the GW8 46mm meant it would have the same sized (ish) screen

That is honking, who at Samsung thought that was a good design.

I've cancelled my order. I managed to get a good deal on the Classic 8 LTE but the shrunken display is a deal breaker :(

What's behind it? Is that removable?

I'm not sure yet if I'm keeping the W8C , weirdly the watch box had a plastic sleeve that slipped off the strap has security stickers .Usage wise it quick via menus and settings think mill have to pop the seals on strap and wear for a a day.

Another feature removed from the Gw8 is the wireless power sharing charging. So useful when you forget your charging cable

What's considered the best smart watch then? Pixel or galaxy? (have galaxy device if that makes any difference)
not best but ease of compatible features/services stick to one Brand as you have already have a Galaxy device , you don't see many iphone users with a non apple watch for the same reason

Depends on your needs/use case and budget. Top end always used to be Garmin but certainly not the blanket best for everyone. Great sensors and outstanding battery life but recently decided to move towards a subscription model which is a bit of a kick in the teeth given the high price point.

Samsung watches are a solid middle ground and I'd say you can't go wrong especially as they're often available cheaply through one route or another. They're the only watches I have experience with personally but I've gone back to tracking runs 'in house' with Samsung health as it'll give me more info than Strava. Whether that data is meaningful/useful is beyond me. I'd expect other brands to be comparable here including Google's Pixel.

I've also heard good things about some of the Chinese brands at a cheaper price point (maybe the tic watch?). I think the battery life is often praised as better than Samsung can manage but I can't comment there.

Basically for better or worse there's no default option. Equally if you find one you're happy with I wouldn't worry you're missing something elsewhere. A bit of reading around or review videos are probably your best bet.

I've mentioned it a couple of times in the thread but I think the one plus watch 3 is great, does everything a smart watch should, runs wear OS, great screen and battery life lasts 4/5 days in smart mode or 10ish in power saving and even in that mode it is still a very good smart watch.

Another vote for the OP3 here too, no complaints, battery for days, looks good, fast and reliable.
