Smartwatch Thread (news/apps/updates)

I've had a smart watch for years, where I originally would try out all sorts of faces and games apps for this and that, the last few years I only use it for notifications, telling the time (for real) and step counting! I just don't feel the smart watch is the right tool for smart controls and the like I just could not get on with it!

...I've had my Gear S3 Frontier for about 9 years now and it still works perfectly. I don't think it will connect to a new Pixel 9 so it stays connected to a Pixel 6. Mainly use it for sleep info now.
Wouldn't touch a Samsung phone now but their watches I think are pretty good. The Tyzen OS on the Gear S3 is great and the rotating bezel on the watch is a master stroke!

I am debating whether to have a smart watch .
All I need it for is monitor my heart rate - if it did eratic heart beat as well and also blood pressure that would be a bonus - I am not looking for a cheepy but something that will do the job with no bother. It has to be small as I have kiddies wrists.
I can't see any other reasons for one unless telling you how far you have walked or sat on your backside.
If I left my phone at home do these things still work.

Thanks

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this.......

I have a samsung 22 phone with 02 and a samsung ultra watch.
Im wanting to know if I can add an esim to my watch but leave the 02 on my phone?
Will I still get my messages sent to whattsapp and other via my phone/number.

Im.planning on leaving my phone at the villa while on holiday and using the esim credits I have for my watch.
I dont want the esim on my phone as it will limit the phone to data

Cheers

Bit slow to reply sorry but if I understand correctly you'd have to have a second number for the esim on your watch. At least, I messaged a different provider about a similar scenario and thats what they told me. Could be that they misunderstood me though.

Having a different number isn't a problem but id need all the WhatsApp and other data provided apps to forroward from original number to my watch number. If that makes sense

Been using my OnePlus watch 3 for a couple of weeks now. Feels like a big upgrade over my last smart watch which was the galaxy 5 pro.

With all the big power drains on I'm getting 4-5 days, putting it into power save mode still gives 90% of the smart functions just lacking the full apps of wearOS and the battery has hardly dropped since I switched it on the other day.

Not bad considering it cost me £120 after discounts/trade ins/selling the free gift

Samsung Watch Ultra 4G is £220 with a trade in using Blue Light Card. Don't mind if I do.
If only it wasn't square I'd look at it myself.

My Watch 4 is still doing absolutely fine but I'm noticing the battery life starting to slip into the 'slightly under what I need' window. I may look at how painful a battery replacement is DIY but also keeping half an eye out for something new.

I would have made the switch to Garmin next time around but given they're heading down the sub route that's off the cards. I see the regular Watch 7 is bundled on a few S25 Ultra contacts, that might be the route I end up going down...

Watch 7 is dirt cheap, £120 with a trade in. Tempted to swap to the 7 to be honest, has the same processor. It's just the aluminium that puts me off, I'm not gentle on my watches.

Interesting didn't realise that. That makes the Watch 7 a more appealing option. Just been and looked at the specs and the Watch 4 is also aluminium and mines held up pretty well. Couple of dings around the bezel but they only stand out because they're against the black. Obviously ymmv

I saw this deal myself on Hot UK Deals, and couldnt help myself...Traded my battered Galaxy 6 in and the price came down to £205 :)

I'm not a blue light card holder, and the Samsung store didnt ask for anything, it just discounted the price and took me straight through checkout. Payment was taken successfully, I'm waiting for it to be dispatched currently.
