Smashed iPhone dilemma. Repair or Replace?

Right, my sister has just dropped her new iPone on and the glass screen has smashed. Apple will replace the handset for £130 or she could get it repaired at a third party outlet for £50.
Apple have said they won't honour the warranty afterwards if its repaired by anyone else. Is there anway of them knowing/ telling later on if something else happens and it has to go back to Apple?
My gut feeling is to go with the replacement phone. What do you think?

go with apple,,, and get a decent case for it in case of it again...

I think you should stick with Apple, if it is 3GS then go with Apple defo

If its a 3GS I would just let Apple repair it since £130 is cheaper then a whole new phone!

If its just the LCD/glass being replaced Apple wont be able to tell it has been taken apart provided you get a decent place to repair it with official Apple parts.
