smashed my 5s screen, advice ?

Well. title says it all. its really rather impressive. Any way, I know i can take it to a shop etc but it seems to cost a rather large amount of dosh. I've had a wee gander on ebay and it seems you can buy replacement kits and do it your self


Has any one done this or have any advice on the best course of action ? Am I right in thinking that some of these kits will be sub standard screens ?

What I did when my kid broke his Apple iPad screen, was sell it as is... Then just put an extra $100 towards a new one. Which is what it would have cost for a 3rd party glass to be installed. Except I got a new iPad.
