Don't know if everyone else already knows this, but the new album has been confirmed for 07/07/07. Not sure what to expect. Hopefully it'll be a bit more Machina II than Machina...

Really really hope they hit the UK.

I am one of the only people i know that didn't think machina was that bad.

Although i seen them on tour during the machina phase at it was the worst concert i have ever been too. Everybody left raging.

I remember he put that ad out in chacago a while ago. No samples around yet?? Is it still only Jimmy and Billy?

sorry, i'm out of the loop. when did they reform? whos in the band now, billy corgan and....?

ditto - had no idea they had/were planning to reform. didn't like zwan much, would love to see the 4 back together. It's rare a band can be so diverse and yet still excel(sp?) in what they do. Gish is still in and out of my stereo on an almost daily basis

The gist is that Billy and Jimmy are back together. As yet there's no confirmation as to who else will be playing, but Melissa Auf Der Mar has offered her services on bass. TBH I'm happy as long as the two core members are there as to me the Pumpkins always were Billy and Jimmy. They've been in the studio for about 4 months iirc.

Machina wasn't bad per-se just nowhere near the standard of everything that had come before.

So long as Jimmy stays clean though, else the album will be out in about 10 years cos of his Siamese dream esque dissapearing acts :p
But at the same time thats the only 2 i care about. I think Melissa Auf Der Mar will only be used for touring, as i think Billy will do all but play the drums again.
And as long as Iha stays away. That boy is so far up his own **** it is beond belief.

I wouldn't say everything before, Gish wasn't good, and Adore can be a bit of an aquired taste. But it was a darker sound they had. Some great tunes on it though.
Their biggest problem was their 2nd album was fantastic and the 3rd album was great (even if it could have been stripped down a bit). Too high a benchmark to keep.
Will be interesting though.

This will be very interesting. They always had a unique sound... I wonder if this has changed over time...? I'll be interested to hear the new stuff!

It seems everyone under the sun is reforming at the moment! I heard that The Jam had reformed today... without Paul Weller!

I half agree.

I was at the last (iirc) UK show on the Machina Silent and Profane tour. Although the performance was technically perfect as expected, I couldn't help but feel that the set was very self indulgent, especially considering that by that point it was unashamedly a farewell tour. Still enjoyed it though.

I'd actually rather they didn't reform and release new material. I'm afraid I'm about to feel how all the hardcore Star Wars fans did when ep1 was released :(

I actually liked Zwan too, we left the show referring to them as 'Billy's Sunshine Band'
