Hi,

After a small/cheap USB/Parralel printer that has SMB on it so it can be addressed via \\machinename\printer as we have a need for one to connect to a Windows 98 machine.

And yes I said 98 and no we can not replace it.

So any suggestions are welcome

Thanks

Kimbie

I'm not aware of any printers that behave like that. Why dont you just share a printer from another machine on the network?

I'm prolly missing something here, but as this will be hosted on a machine rather than networked wouldn't any/most printers be shareable in that fashion? You can even feed the print server the relevant Win98 drivers so your 98 box pulls them from there when you try and connect.

The 98 box is not on the network and being 98 we do not want it on our network from a security point of view.

The machine was using a Cannon 98 printer over USB which has died and seems no other inkjet has 98 usb drivers now

\\machinename\printer is used for network access. You said you don't want it on the network so confused.

Ah, so you just want a local printer that has drivers available for Win98, no network involvement at all. HP Inkjet 2300 still has Win98 drivers available, as has the 1200.
