Currently accessing the media files on my PC via SMB so I can stream videos to my android device. SD stuff streams fine with no problems but HD stuff stutters and buffers constantly.
It is not a network throughput issue as I set up an FTP server to test and the streaming speed was fine, videos played perfectly but FTP is not an ideal solution, seeking doesn't work etc... Currently found the best solution to use Plex DLNA server on the pc and stream it to bubble UPNP plays 1080p fine for the most part.
I would still like to be able to use SMB though as I find it the most simple and user friendly way to access the files. Are there and tricks or tweaks I can apply to either device in order to speed up the transfers or increase reliability? Anyone faced the same issue and fixed it?
