Smell and your memory

Yeah I have had some deep memories pop up - one of the best was smelly stick by slazenger I used as a late teenager - as soon as I got a whiff it took me right back like 'riding on a wave all the way to Ibiza (abeefer) man'.

I will go for Rum - I heave if I smell it.:(

Also agree with the gas mask to put you out for operation.

Good smell is Castrol R in BSA Gold Star.:D:D:D

I got a face full of petrol a few months ago, reminded me of a time when I was maybe 5 or 6 in the garage with my dad trying to get the Alfa sud engine going in the back of the beach buggy... Fuel hose came off and I got soaked in fuel... I had no recollection of this ever happening until recently :D

A certain cleaning smell takes me right back to my days at secondary school - the internet had just become a thing and at the time the only access I had to it was at school and we could stay on an extra hour after normal school finished to use it - the cleaner came around the time we were leaving and opened up the closet over the corridor from the IT room to get the cleaning stuff out and that smell takes me right back - can even remember the items and how they were laid out on the shelves, etc. when it is triggered even though it was over 20 years ago.

Petrol? Ooh yeah. Once had a similar experience but with siphoning. Long time ago in someones back garden my best mates go-cart (cut up messershmitt bubble car) needed fuel and someones car, parked not too far away had some, (twas before the days of lockable fuel caps)

... you can guess the rest.

I had a science teacher whose son died in some incident involving petrol - the smell of it would turn a stern, normally stiff upper lip type, man into a gibbering wreck instantly :(

The smell of a bonfire. A sweet smelling bonfire of bits of tree. Sweet smelling wood.

Oh yeah - charcoal takes me back to the 2006 world cup - having a bbq in the new forest while following the game - seemed quite a few others had the same idea.
