It's beta. I don't trusted beta. Sorry not to get into your bubble.

Beta could mean many months of waiting for debugging and testers feedback.

I'm not suggesting everyone convert their live sites to it. But it has tons of new features, so well worth installing it just to have a play around with (if you're interested in forum software obviously).

I like forums for sure .. I run two. One is an old IBP and the other a brand new VB & VBSEO install.

I had a look at the spec on the SMF beta. I'm not keen on a WYSIWYG editor on a forum .. too much scope for abuse. And there's no MOD Rewrite.

Looks like it could make it king of the free solution though

VB has a wysiwig editor enabled by default. I think the newer IPB's do too. You may not like it yourself, but it's nice to have the choice. Obviously it can be disabled.

Most of the new things are very subtle changes, but very useful things - such as the way the package manager should now have better success at adding plug-ins to non-default themes.

Edit: And you can control sig image sizes! Finally I can stop having to warn people about them
