As the Cortina seems to have gone down well I thought I'd post this one up on here.

This car isn't my favourite but it has had the most time and money spent on it. It's one of those things that got out of control but it has taught me a lot over the years.

Here goes, Smilers Hairdresser Chariot!:

It's an '85 Escort mk3 Cabrio.
Proper hairdresser car! :D

There, nearly done. Not quite as hairdressery and a lot better than most rebuilt Cabrios.

Under the skin though it soon looses all traces of hairdresser shame (well, as far as a front wheel drive Escort can do anyway). That's proper homologation stuff your looking at there and then some. The rears been worked on too.

For more details including the spec (2.0ltr Zetec amongst other stuff, the only original un molested parts are the basic shell, petrol tank securing strap and side glass!) look here:

Still not my kind of thing though.

Regards,

Smiler. :p

A recent one of it wearing a set of big bling 18" rims that are currently up for sale (they came off the Sierra daily driver I recently aquired).

Cheers, I haven't a clue what it's putting out as I'm afraid this one isn't finished yet either (there's a theme going on here :D ) Just needs the cylinderhead fitting and the engine wiring up.

Also just realised I forgot to put the link up for the spce and gallery page.

It's now in there but just incase you miss it it's here too:

Not particularly, I just seem to end up with them. I'm actualy quite a big Triumph fan. If you click on my website link in my sig you'll see I also have an old VW Campervan. :)

Thanks, I hope I'm never stupid enough to repeat it! :D

Seriously, if I knew it was going to go this far I would have done something more worthwhile like a Triumph TR6 (good ones presently go fo £8,000 to £10,000) or something else old and cool.

Oh well, you live and learn. :p

Yeah, tell me about it! That one has a damaged top mounting clip and I've been looking for a good replacement on and off for almost 3 years now! I have lost count of how many cheap cupys I've had offered me. Sadly the cheap copys are of very poor quality.

As for the RS 1600i sticker set, I happen to really like the look of that car and prefer it to the look of the RS Turbo. As this car has a lot of 'motorsport' parts on it I didn't feel too quilty about putting them on. I have however changed the badgeing from "RS 1600i" to "SG 2000i" to show it's not a true RS 1600i clone. The SG bit is my initials as I built it, not RS and the 2000i indicates the new engine (2.0ltr Zetec).

Here's the third (and final) major project, my old '72 VW Camper. Started out life as a minibus but was converted to a camper early on its life.

It now needs a fair bit of TLC and a new engine as I discovered last weekend. It has been spewing it's oil out recently through the fan housing and leaving a slick everywhere it goes. Unfortunately whilst trailoring it to the car club work shop at work I noticed that the oil was 'glittery'. Yep, there metal in it. Buger!
