Hi. about a year ago there was a raffle to win a snowboard at my student union. i for some reason told my friend if she won i would buy it off her for 20 pounds. she then won and i got a snowboard. Now, I've been snowboarding 3 times and recently have been getting the urge to go again. i want to use the snowboard i have as it will mean i don't have to rent, but how good is my snowboard.. i dont want it to break on me. I've seen a few people talking about their skiing and was wondering if anyone could tell me if the snowboard i won is of any quality and will survive a ski trip. or if i should rent

the snowboard is made by nitro are they any good?

Students' union here had the same thing about a year ago. Someone won but never claimed it so one of the staff got it I think. The board wasn't especially large though.

I doubt very much it would break. I'm by no means an expert snowboarder, but I've got quite a bit of experience. Nitro are quite well known for making both beginner and advanced boards, so I'm sure it will be fine. Just make sure you get some Bindings and maybe boots too, because you will look a bit stupid just turning up with a board and nothing else lol :p

it wont break man you'd need to hit a rail pretty hard to break a snowboard and im guessing you wont be riding much park so it will be perfectly fine

I used to ride a nitro, got a burton at the moment. Don't know about that one in particular but nitro make decent boards you will be fine. Really good deal.

I saw a guy break a board on dryslope, he landed really badly from a huge 360 rodeo on the nose of his board. So it is possible but not very likely if your a beginner :)

Is the board the right size for you? If you have used it it's value is much less and you'd be better keeping it and using it, never heard of the make but it should be fine.

It's pretty much an entry level all mountain board. 157 is pretty much a mid size, so should be fine for jibbing and riding the odd bit of pow, baring in mind you aren't too tall or heavy.

It takes quite a bit to physically break a snowboard. It's more likely to break from a defect or from waring your base away on rocks.

i was 6.1" last time i checked and 12 and a half stone i've not got boots or bindings but i'm size 10 shoe.. i've put my foot on the board and my feet seem an ok size for it.. so all seems ok?

anyway my friend was telling me how hes thinking of going snowboarding in somewhere like bulgaria because we are all poor students. but getting a reasonably nice hotel (also cheap)

can anyone reccomened me some cheap resorts. in one of these kinds of places?
