Need some upgrade advice

Been playing Black Flag & BF4 bit lower than 4k (DSR/Resolution scaling)
Which has made me think i could jump to 4k

I been using Nvidia DSR @ 3880x1537 which is quite bit lower than 4k.

my question what do you think?
2 cards enough or tri-sli good enough for 4k?
do you think i should upgrade to x99 if i go three cards?
should i just go to 1440p?
should i just wait?

Currently got
i7 3770k @ 4.6 (can go higher)
MSi Mpower z77
16GB 1666mhz
2x 980 Stock
hx850w

Monitors
29134WM
SASA950D
Dell Studio 22" x2

Well, some good news is the higher the res, the less work the CPU has to do, so that saves you having to go for a new mobo/CPU/RAM upgrade and I am a fan of 4K and would be all over it if not for my impatience on G-Sync.

Not long to go for the Acer 4K2K, which is the first 4K G-Sync monitor.

Grab the monitor and see how you go before buying another GPU - If you feel you could do with a few more frames, grab another.

Yeah the cards will scale best on the first two anyway so you could see what your performance is like then add another if needed.

could do however to go tri i would need x99 due to z77 being x8 x8 x4?

The X4 wouldn't make much more than 1-2 fps difference at 4K, so I wouldn't worry about that but if you intend on going 4K, see how it goes and decide from there.
